Six companies bid for 290mln birr road project -
ENEY construction wins 106 mln road Project |

Addis Ababa Road Authority (AARA) is to open a bid tomorrow, May 8,2006 for the construction of a four-kilometer road with a total budget 0f 290 million birr, Fekade Haile General Manager of the Authority told Capital
According to Fekade six construction companies- namely CRBC Addis engineering, BERTA construction,SUR construction AKIR construction, and B&C construction- are short listed and their prequalification documents are being reviewed by the authority.
“The 4 km road project stretches from Genera; Wingate square to Gojam ber. The project has many brdges and flyover bridges and is part of the ring road project,” he said.
The General Manager also stated that ENEY construction has won a 106 million burr road project. The road stretches from the Gofa military camp to Mekanisa ring road.

China-Nigeria joint venture firm to build road |

A Chinese construction company won a contract to build
a 309-kilometre road connecting the central Ethiopian
towns of Kombolacha and Gundewein, the Ethiopian Road
Authority (ERA) said in a statement Saturday.
The ERA said it had signed an agreement with the China Geoengineering Corporation (CGC) Overseas Construction
Co. Ltd., the winner of an international bid at a cost of 1.5 billion birr (173 million dollars).
The Chinese construction company operates in a joint venture with the CGC Nigeria Ltd. of Nigeria, it said.
The work, which involves the upgrading of 173 kilometres of existing road and the construction of an
additional 136 kilometres, is scheduled to be completed within three and a half years.
