Addis Ababa Road Authority (AARA) is to open a bid tomorrow, May 8,2006 for the construction of a four-kilometer road with a total budget 0f 290 million birr, Fekade Haile General Manager of the Authority told Capital

According to Fekade six construction companies- namely CRBC Addis engineering, BERTA construction,SUR construction AKIR construction, and B&C construction- are short listed and their prequalification documents are being reviewed by the authority.

“The 4 km road project stretches from Genera; Wingate square to Gojam ber. The project has many brdges and flyover bridges and is part of the ring road project,” he said.

The General Manager also stated that ENEY construction has won a 106 million burr road project. The road stretches from the Gofa military camp to Mekanisa ring road.

In related news, the AARA has retendered three road projects,according to Fekade Haile One of the projects (a road from Mexico square through pushkin square to Mekanisa ring road) is to be shortened adjustments have been to the other two road projects.

“These adjustments were made because the contractors that participated in the tender submitted high prices.

Our regulation states that he average price forwarded by the client for the road project should be plus or minus 20%of a price estimated by the consultant. The documents of the re-tender will be opened next week,” he said.

The AARA also tendered a multi million birr road projects across the city.These road projects are from AyatSqure to Yerer Guro , two dry-season only roads of 25km each, from Ayet Akaki Lebu to Yeshi Debele, and a road upgrading project from Yekatit 12 Square to semien hotel.
