Bashanfer as a firm dates back to 1947 when the late father of the seven Saudi/Yemeni owners, established the business in Dire Dawa (Harar), East Ethiopia. Since then exporting Ethiopian coffees of all types had been the mainstay of its business.
Coffee exports is just one line, albeit the major, of several businesses in Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia, that are owned and run by the Bashanfer family.

 Green Coffee Exports:- Washed as well as natural (sun-dried) yirgacheffe, sidamo, Limmu, etc
Roasted Coffee:- Khaldi ® , Ethio-sunrise ® , Ethio-Genet Special ® and Dumersso ® blends.
Non-Coffee Products:- Food items, soap & detergents, oil seeds & pulses, salt mining, etc.
