Establishment
CPDE was established in 1979 (E.C) as state owned Enterprise to develop and maintain coffee and other associated crops that have export potentials .Currently it manages about 21,000 hectares of coffee plantations which are located in South- Western part of the Country.
Some Features of the Coffee Plantations Under CPDE
 Limmu Coffee Plantation:- There are 5 coffee estates under Limmu.
Their altitude ranges between 1400-1800 meters above sea level where
the best Ethiopian highland Arabica Coffee grows. The average annual rainfall and temperature ranges are very much suitable to produce high
quality coffee. There are about 7,500 hectares of coffee under Limmu.
Teppi and Bebeka Coffee Plantation:- These plantations are stretched in mid-altitude zone (1200-1600m) having quite good weather conditions that assist the coffee to have its unique flavor and aroma. There are about 13,500 hectares of coffee under these two plantations.
CPDE'S Major Produces
Coffee: - high quality washed and unwashed (sun- dried) coffees.
Spices:- Black pepper, Indian Cardamom, Cinnamon etc.
Fruits:- Banana, Pineapple, Avocado... etc.
Palm Oil
Honey:- Pure natural honey produced through modern production techniques.
Export of Coffee:
CPDE has recently started exporting its coffee to the major coffee markets of Japan, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, US A etc.
So far, it has achieved a good reputation in supplying high quality coffees to its main customers in consistent and sustainable way. CPDE, currently enjoys the confidence of its most buyers due to its exporting potential from its own coffee estates which are origin-based and traceable.
